Smart glasses from the “wellness” firm Narbis can monitor wearers’ brainwaves as they read or study on a computer. The lenses darken when they are judged not to be paying attention and clear as they concentrate.

The spectacles, which are available to order at $590 (£520), are one of the oddest-looking gadgets since the “HushMe” office muzzle, designed to allow workers to make phone calls in absolute privacy.
